PRESIDENT’S REPORT July-Aug 2021

BY JOHN GUADAGNO
With this edition of the Conduit, we are in the throes of the summer season. The Fourth of July has passed with the only summer holiday remaining being Labor Day. I hope you and your family are enjoying the season, even though it has been an unusually hot one. As of my last writing, we have had several heatwaves and it is only mid-July. Make sure to stay cool when you can and remember that when on the job sites, keep hydrated to prevent heat exhaustion and other heat-related illnesses.
Our ongoing building improvements are moving into a new phase. With the lighting retrofit of LED fixtures throughout the JATC, EIB, Front Office and Union Hall, we should see the new lighting pay for itself in a few years.

Special thanks to the EWMC Committee for running the Car Show held on July 18th from 12 pm -3 pm. There was a D.J., food trucks, and all types of cars and motorcycles to see and enjoy.

As we head towards Labor Day, we enter the home stretch of the political season, with all of Nassau and Suffolk County Legislators up for reelection. This election season, as always, we will be supporting Labor friendly candidates for public office - whether it be in towns, county, or state governments. Our C.O.P.E. Committee will be seeking your support in helping us in this endeavor. So, when you get the call, please give us a couple of hours of your time every month for the next three months or so. Collectively, Brothers and Sisters, it is in all of our best interests.

On the Volunteer front, we have a few projects this year for anyone who wants to help. Please call the President’s Office. And finally, our 50th Annual Softball Tournament will be held on August 20th, 21st, and 22nd at Eisenhower Park and Baldwin Park. We can use help on Saturday in Eisenhower Park. Chairperson Joshua Margolis or Ed O’Donnell will be calling you for times to help.

This concludes my report for the Conduit, work smart, work safely until we meet again.
