New Islander Hockey Arena
The new Islander Hockey Arena at Belmont Park is in full swing. With approximately 100 Local 25 members and travelers currently working on the job – it is expected to peak at around 200 in the spring with a completion date in September 2021. This project will be a job that will be a once in a career job. We probably will not see another sports/ entertainment arena of this magnitude built for a very long time.

As we enter the months of July and August, I hope all are having a great summer with your families. On the Union front, we have reached book 2 on our referral for the fifth year in a row and work continues to be strong the rest of the year. Business Manager Kevin Casey and the Business Office are all doing a great job in keeping our Local moving forward.

EVITP a Necessary Component
Key to this plan are 500,000 new electric vehicle charging stations and the standardization of the buildout of the nation’s EV infrastructure. The IBEW is pressing lawmakers to ensure that the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) is included in any legislation. The EVITP program has been developed through collaboration among the IBEW, automobile and energy storage device manufacturers, utilities, electrical contractors, state and local electrical inspectors and the national fire protection agency.
