Governor Kathy Hochul has announced 23 transformational downtown revitalization projects across Long Island as part of the state's Downtown Revitalization Initiative. These projects are designed to strengthen local economies, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life in Long Island communities. The initiative focuses on creating vibrant, walkable downtown areas that attract businesses, residents, and visitors while preserving the unique character of each community.

BRP Companies has completed The Arboretum at Farmingville, a 292-unit residential development in Brookhaven. The $147 million project features a mix of two and three-bedroom apartments, lofts, townhomes, and single-family homes, with 30 units reserved for workforce housing. The development includes a seven-acre publicly accessible park and state-of-the-art amenities including a resort pool, fitness center, and yoga facilities. Construction began in July 2022 with Phase I opening in June 2024.

The Trump administration has lifted a stop-work order on Empire Wind, a $5 billion offshore wind farm project off the coast of New York. The reversal comes after direct appeals from NY Governor Kathy Hochul and represents a compromise that could also see cancelled natural gas pipeline plans revived. The project, located 15-30 miles south of Long Island, is designed to power over 500,000 homes and is over 30% complete with $2.5 billion already invested.
